Brazil Sacks Head Coach ‘Dunga’ Over COPA America Disaster

Dunga has been sacked as head of the
Brazilian national football team after
a disastrous showing at the Copa
America Centenario taking place in
the United States.
The coach was summoned to the
Brazilian Football Confederation
(CBF) headquarters on Tuesday,
along with coordinator Gilmar
Rinaldi.
The CBF, after a meeting
announced that Dunga, Rinaldi and
the rest of their coaching team have
been sacked from their posts.
“The Brazilian Football
Confederation informs that it has
decided this Tuesday to dissolve the
coaching staff of the Brazilian
national football team. Coordinator
Gilmar Rinaldi, coach Dunga and all
their team will leave their positions.
“The decision was made in mutual
agreement in this afternoon’s
meeting and the CBF will now start
its selection process for a new
Brazil coaching staff. The CBF
thanks the dedication,
professionalism and commitment of
the team in its work,” it said.
Dunga was the captain of the
Brazilian national team when the
country won the world cup in 1994
and later led the nation to win one
COPA America trophy and failed to
win the 2010 World Cup in South
Africa for Brazil as coach.
