NFF Apologise For Unpaid Allowances, Poor Welfare Of Flying Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have apologised to the Flying Eagles for unpaid allowances and poor welfare of players.

The Flying Eagles are currently in Lagos where they are preparing for their final round Africa Cup of Nations clash against Sudan on Saturday, July 23.

Complains have been raised by players over unpaid bonuses, allowances and lack of kits.
Members of the squad has had threatened not to play the game against Sunday, with one of the players saying; “We can’t trust your words. It’s unfair to be treated so poorly.”

Emmanuel Amuneke and his men got a visit from vice president of the NFF, Seyi Akinwunmi who apologised to the team on behalf of the cash-strapped football body.

Akinwunmi revealed that he and the NFF were not aware of the unavailability of training kits and jerseys.

“I’m hearing about jerseys for the first time,” the NFF VP is quoted to say by Nigerian sports journalist, Oluwashina Okeleji.

Coach of the side, Amuneke, thanked the NFF vice president for the visit and pleaded for the welfare of his players to be improved.

“We appreciate your visit. We know the financial situation. But please let’s improve on players welfare,” Nigeria’s U-20 side coach said.
