Mourinho dedicates Community Shield title to Loius van Gaal
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has dedicated the Community Shield title win to his predecessor Louis van Gaal and also to the seven players who were left out of the matchday squad.
FA Cup holders United won 2-1 against champions Leicester City at Wembley on Sunday to take the prize in the traditional curtain-raiser for the new season.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s late header sealed the win after Jesse Lingard, who also scored the match-winning goal in the FA Cup final, had put them 1-0 ahead.
It is the first piece of silverware for a new-look United now under the leadership of Mourinho.
